We are very excited to be hosting a live-in Convention at Twin Waters in May 2020 with Abhijata Iyengar—the granddaughter of BKS Iyengar. Date 8—12 May 2020
Arrive on the morning of the 8th May for registration, lunch at 1200 and an afternoon class at 1500. The convention concludes on the 12th at 1200 after morning class and brunch.
Venue
Novotel Twin Waters Resort Sunshine Coast
This is the same venue as the Convention with Geeta Iyengar in 2009.
Accommodation
This is a live-in convention and all participants (even those living locally) are required to stay on site for the duration of the convention. Participants can choose between single (limited availability) and twin share rooms. Participants can provide the name of the person they want to share with. If you don’t have a person to share with, we will match you up with another person looking to share a twin room. If you require additional accomodation either before or after the Convention, Twin Waters Resort has agreed to provide our special rates to participants a few days either side of the convention. Meals
Vegetarian brunch and evening dinner will be provided each day any other additional dietary requirements will be catered for.
Props
Participants are required to bring the following props:
— 1 x mat
— 2 x belts
— 2 x bricks
— Support for should stand i.e. 4 x blankets or 2 x shoulder stand pads
— 2 x blankets
Prerequisites
- Participants are required to have a minimum of 5 years Iyengar Yoga practice.
- Participants must be financial members of IYA.
Schedule
Details will be provided in due course and will likely include 2-3 classes each day including pranayama and asana.
Pune Visit
For teacher participants the convention will count as an equivalent trip to Pune for ongoing professional development.

Cost
Early Bird Tickets — 90 Tickets — they have now all sold out.
90 Early Bird tickets (now sold out) at a special rate — full payment required; no installments.
Standard Price Tickets — 310 Tickets
Standard price tickets are available for sale from 25/08/18 until sold out:
Single Room* — $2,300 (sold out)
Twin Room — $2,000
General tickets can be paid for in full on registration or by instalments as follows:
— 1/3 on registration
— 1/3 on 20/11/2019
— 1/3 on 20/03/2020
All prices above include 2 meals per day (1 meal on the 12th), accommodation and teaching.
Once registered, changes to room types and nominated share partners can only be made based on availability.
Subject to availability, the venue will also provide a reduced rate the day before the convention starts and the day after for those participants that wish to arrive early and stay an additional day.
Once you have registered, we will send you a confirmation email as soon as we can. We will also send you an invoice via the member portal, which can then be paid online.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
— Up to 91 days before the convention a full refund will be provided less an administration fee of $20.
— 90 Days to 31 Days before the convention 50% refund.
— 30 days to the convention date no refund.
Photography & Video
The Convention will be professionally videoed and subsequently made available for sale. Photographic images taken at the Convention will be the property of IYA and used for IYA purposes only. All participants will need to provide a model release (photos & video) at the time of registration.
T-Shirts & Singlets
Convention T-shirts and Singlets are available for sale. Size requirements and payment will be taken at the time of registration. Cost of a T-shirt or singlet is $30. You can order more than one T-Shirt if you would like.
