Yoga Rahasya

Yoga Rahasya is a quarterly publication of the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute Pune, and the Light on Yoga Research Trust, Mumbai, India. It is published on the occasions of the Annual Day of RIMYI, Hanuman Jayanti, Guru Purnima and Patanjali Jayanti, which generally fall in the months of January, April, July and October.

The aim of Yoga Rahasya is to share the essence of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar’s teachings. Guruji has been enlightening us all through his talks, but not everyone is fortunate to be present on all occasions. Transcriptions of his speeches and also those of Geeta and Prashant Iyengar are published in Yoga Rahasya. This publication serves as a storehouse of this wealth of spiritual knowledge as we evolve in our yogic journey.

Yoga Rahasya covers many subjects including the therapeutic effects of asanas and pranayama and serves as a means of interaction between the members of the large, global Iyengar yoga family.

Annual subscription for Yoga Rahasya is $70 (incl GST).

Sounding the Depths : On Japa Yoga - Arjun von Caemmerer.

Introduction from Arjun von Caemmerer.
My exposure to Praṇava-Japa, the repetition of ĀUṂ, at the Ramāmaṇi Iyengar Memorial
Yoga Institute (and at other Iyengar Yoga schools) has been limited to the 3-fold recitation of ĀUṂ that prefaces ‘The Invocation to Patañjali’ at the commencement (and
sometimes also the conclusion) of classes. In this article I wish to consider Japa Yoga in
more depth, particularly in its relationship to the practice of prāṇāyāma. It is noteworthy
that in Patañali’s Yoga-Sūtra there occur almost as many sūtras on Praṇava-Japa as there on āsana and prāṇāyāma counted together.
